We place special emphasis on recreational activities, whether undertaken as a group or in encouraging residents to pursue their own hobbies and interests. Every assistance is given by the staff to help residents be as active as their condition permits. The gardens at Burnham are particularly attractive; they are a lovely place for a stroll, or to sit and watch the plentiful wildlife. Specially raised beds have been created to allow keen gardeners to pursue their interest, these allow access even for those in wheelchairs.

We have two full-time activities coordinators who organise a daily selection of activities for those who wish to take part. These may range from bingo and dominoes, to music with movement or a group discussion of current affairs. Professional entertainers also visit the home regularly to entertain both residents and staff alike. Theme days are also organized on a regular basis in conjunction with the Chef, to allow the chance to explore different cultures and to try different cuisines.

Over the years certain events have become Burnham Lodge institutions, and friends and relatives are always welcome to join us, whether it is for the summer garden party, our bonfire night party or the Christmas cheese and wine event.
